About Jessica Post
Prior to joining Civitas, as President of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC)—the Democratic Party’s official campaign arm for state legislative races—Jessica designed the successful national strategy to build eight new Democratic majorities in state legislatures. During her eight-year tenure leading the DLCC, she recruited and elected hundreds of state legislators in chambers across the country while more than tripling the organization’s budget to $60 million per election cycle.
Jessica’s extensive background includes work at the intersection of national politics, advocacy, and organizing. During her time with the DLCC—where she served in multiple capacities for over a decade, including as President, National Field Director, and Political Director—the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) recognized her as one of the 40 best and brightest campaign professionals under 40 years old. Campaigns & Elections magazine named her a Rising Star for innovation in grassroots organizing.
She is a go-to expert on state legislatures and is regularly quoted in national and state publications and programs, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, US News and World Report, USA Today, Associated Press, Politico, The Hill, Time, The Atlantic, National Public Radio, PBS NewsHour, CNN, MSNBC, and Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.
Post has also been a frequent panelist, trainer, and presenter. Each year, she guest lectures at the American University Campaign Management Institute and provides training for political staff nationwide on running strategic and data-driven campaigns. She has also presented at George Washington University, Netroots Nation, Harvard Law School, and the Sundance Film Festival.
Jessica also serves on the Planned Parenthood federal PAC board and is a director for the State Democracy Action Fund. She is a Missouri native and a graduate of Truman State University. She resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, daughter, and rescue dog.
